As we’ve introduced new continuing education programs, I’ve heard Associates and other members of the Emergenetics community ask about the difference between Certification and egElectives. To illustrate, let’s think of Associate Certification like a college degree and egElectives as postgraduate certificates in specialized skills.

We can compare a Certified Emergenetics Associate to a college graduate who has earned their Bachelor’s in Emergenetics theory and training. With their credentials, this individual is ready to go out into the world and share their expertise.

After some time, they may decide to elevate certain skills and specialize their craft, so they enroll in egElectives to take the next steps. This additional training equips them to handle more complex situations using Thinking and Behavioral insights and extend the impact of Emergenetics even further.

To offer more insights, let’s explore both offerings to identify the brilliances and distinctions of each of these experiences and how they can be used to empower individuals, build stronger teams and transform organizations.

Foundational Training: Associate Certification

Certification creates a pathway to understand and apply Emergenetics theory effectively. In the two-day blended learning program, attendees discover the science behind Emergenetics and gain the fundamentals they need to begin integrating Emergenetics theory into their training initiatives.

Participants Learn To:

  • Facilitate our introductory workshops: Team Dynamics for Small Groups and The Meeting of the Minds.
  • Debrief Emergenetics Profiles and interpret Thinking and Behavioral preferences
  • Address group dynamics and optimize team performance
  • Assemble cognitively diverse teams to amplify problem-solving and innovation
  • Explain the science, validity and core concepts behind Emergenetics
  • Apply a framework to strengthen coaching, communication, collaboration and team building

Upon completion, attendees walk away with the tools to apply the seven Attributes in impactful ways—whether that’s by facilitating workshops, guiding leaders, boosting team productivity or integrating the theory as part of their organizational ethos. And yes, there is a final assessment to help ensure individuals are ready to take on the role of a Certified Associate!

Next-Level Coursework: egElectives

egElectives provides the next step so practitioners can level up their Emergenetics knowledge. Each virtual class is delivered in time blocks over the course of three days. Participants can select between the offerings to personalize their learning paths and refine their skills in specific areas aligned to their continuing education goals.

In Any egElectives Program, Participants Learn To:

  • Optimize communication and facilitation competencies
  • Increase their impact and credibility
  • Build confidence in applying Emergenetics theory
  • Gain new knowledge to increase Emergenetics expertise
  • Connect with other practitioners and expand their professional network

The egElectives Course List

Depending on your areas of interests, certain programs may be a better fit for your needs.

  • Personalized Learning: The Artistry of Emergenetics – This training is perfect for Associates who work in-house, training internal stakeholders or who consult with leaders and teams to amplify their effectiveness. It supplies the tools needed to design learning experiences tailored to the cognitive diversity and dynamics of individuals and groups. Because it delivers so many built-in activities, I often recommend this option as an ideal next step for those who may be asking: What do I do after a Meeting of the Minds?
  • Elevated Communication: The Architecture of Emergenetics – This session focuses on the various combinations of Thinking and Behavioral preferences and provides attendees with insights into how these nuances influence communication and group dynamics. It’s a great 2.0 class following Certification and gives practitioners more examples and applications of the ways the Attributes influence one another. With its added focus on the Language of Grace, Associates will gain confidence in navigating team interactions, reducing bias and strengthening coaching conversations with leaders.
  • Spectrum Smarts: The Music of Emergenetics – When I was a new Associate, I remember being somewhat intimidated by the Emergenetics spectrums. However, once I dove in and learned about the uses of each of the four tools, I realized there were endless methods I could use with the teams I supported simply by being aware of their dynamics and likely pain points. This class is excellent for anyone interested in leveraging data and advanced interpretation techniques so they can anticipate participant needs and adapt their training and coaching approaches for greater impact.

Who Can Benefit from Emergenetics Practitioner Training?

In my opinion, everyone can benefit from learning about themselves and others, and most commonly, we see leadership coaches, training consultants as well as Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Development and Employee Engagement professionals participate in our practitioner programming. By choosing to invest in Emergenetics trainings, attendees will walk away with new solutions to enhance self-awareness, amplify communication and collaboration as well as create meaningful development opportunities for individuals, teams and organizations.
